While wondering the book store friday night and perusing through the magazine section my inspiration came for both of these challenges. Last night I was able to make it to the studio with my pair of shoes, jars of paint, (which I found at Joann Fabrics at half off because of the store closing), ideas, and sketchbook. I wanted to create happy feet for IF and alter my shoes for IMT. For IF once my other shoe is done I'll be dancing down the street in my new pair of shoes. The summer colors this year are yellows, blues, aqua and pale greens so I am sure to find something to go with my funky shoes. For IMT the challenge was to think big, to do something bigger, longer, wider, or go from two dimensional to three dimensional. Well I have done bigger, taller, wider and dimensional and one of their suggestions was to alter something bigger. I have never altered anything till now so hopefully this will count for their challenge. This was thinking BIG for me. When I get my other shoe done later this week I'll post it.

Love and hugs Rita
I just love it! I hope to be walking at the mall someday and look down and see those shoes and know instantly that I have met Toni Kelly, ha. That would be a great way to cross paths. You should paint and sell shoes like that. I bet they would be a big hit.
:D

Lovely!
What a great idea! If I saw someone wearing shoes like thi, I would stop her and tell her how fabulous they are. Will you put some kind of protective clear coat over this?

Neat idea, groovy shoe, like the inspirational words on it.
Wow...That looks great, Toni! What a great idea! Looking forward to seeing both painted up. Will you be modeling them for us? I hope so!

Toni - this is wonderful! I love how you've combined both challenges. I hope you'll post the pair when you're finished. You know that everyone who sees these shoes will want a pair of their own....

Love your happy feet!
Wow, that shoe is soo cool, those would make me stop in the street!
I admire how you take your art further than paint and paper. How wonderful to be able to transform it into a part of your life. Very inspiring indeed. Please post the other one when it is done. Put them on and show the world your gifted talent and your big idea.
By the way, what kind of paint is that you have used? I have been thinking of changing the colour of a pair of leather flats for months and I don't know what kind of paint to use.
What a wonderful transformation of a shoe - will you wear them?
I'd be inclined to keep them on show so as not to get them dirty ;-)
LOVE the shoes! I, too, am curious about the type of paint used.
Also did you do anything to prepare the leather first? Did you woodburn the lines and letters into the leather?
This is my first time here, and I love your site!
that is so, so neat!! please show us the finished pair when they're ready.
Great happy-feet shoe art! Good choices of color combos and quote. Thanks for the comments on my running shoes post. I'm taking the comments as encouragement to keep running... and most days I need all the encouragement I can get!
